A web site which operates on http, no “s”, providing:
- links to other sites which operate on http
- archived content for some sites which are no longer available on http
- original content
The basic premise is that many older computers and browsers can no longer access web sites. This is due to two factors.
First and foremost, ssl standards have progressed and most sites now prohibit older ssl technologies. This creates an incompatibility between the browser and the site.
Second, most popular sites now utilize advances in HTML, CSS, Javascript which are not supported by older browsers.
